About OJ

If you have been following the OJ case in the news, there has been another development that may help put OJ behind bars. You can read the rest of the story here. If you hadn't heard about it, you can get the full scoop in these prior posts:

Foreclosure help may be on the way, or will it?

The Nevada legislature has finally decided to become concerned about the rising rate of foreclosures. Its not surprising that State republicans are against doing anything. State Senator Warren Hardy, (R) Las Vegas, said, "What obligation does the legislature have to step in and protect them? It's just investors like Wall Street." Apparently Senator Hardy is severly out of touch. He thinks that it mostly investors losing their shirts with foreclosure. I wonder how many of his constituents are in foreclosure? Unfortunately, the interim solution seems to be a bust. At a cost of $400,000 per year, the legislature is proposing to put up an 800 line so people facing foreclosure have a resource to call.

Of course, this is just a preliminary plan and there is no discussion of how to pay for it. It will be discussed more next month. -Charles

Lose a pound with your hound

The 7th annual Lose A Pound With Your Hound will be held October 21st at the Bunker Family park. Registration starts at 9 am and the walk starts at 10. All proceeds will benefit Heaven Can Wait Sanctuary. In addition to the usual after walk music, games and contests, there will be a remberance walk, to remember or pay tribute to a beloved pet that passed away and the 25,000 animals that are killed yearly in Las Vegas shelters.

You can download a registration form from their website or just pick one up at the event. You also don't have to bring your dog to participate in the event. See you there.

Homes in Anthem

In today's market, not all news is bad news. Right now is a great time to buy a home. Interest rates are still low (and were just dropped) and there are lots of homes to choose from. Many home builders are offering great unprecedented incentives on new homes as well as free upgrades. Pulte, the builder of Anthem and Madiera Canyon, has just lowered their prices by $100,000.

Anthem and Madiera Canyon offer breath taking views of the Las Vegas valley and the surrounding mountains. if you prefer country club living, Anthem offers a huge community center and top notch golf course. Both communities offer new construction homes that are Energy Star certified. Pulte even goes a step further and tells you what you can expect your power bills to be in each model.

If you are thinking about buying a country club home, Anthem warrants a look. Email or call me directly at 702-493-8033 to have listing of the current Anthem homes for sale sent to you by email, or to schedule a tour of exisiting model homes for new construction. -cr

Another one bites the dust

Thought I would put up another cancellation notice. This year there has been a few more casualties among Las Vegas lofts and condos. Although that didn't stop other developers from announcing new projects. The biggie was the cancellation of the Sandhurst. It was announced years ago, and last year the Mayor Oscar Goodman specifically asked the developer when the project would be completed at a town meeting.  The other surprise was the cancellation of the Boulders condo conversion.  They simply stopped work and went back to renting out the apartments.  I guess some lucky tenants received some upgrades. Moreover, both projects had very little marketing, which in this market is a guarantee of failure.  I'm sure we'll see a few more downtown projects fall by the roadside.

Profiling

I was sad to learn that Mandy Patinkin was leaving one of my favorite shows, Criminal Minds. However, he is merely showing his integrity for what he feels is right.  I do like shows about profiling and such, most of the books I read are in the same vein, although I do read quite a bit in other genres as well. I was going through all of my profiles that I keep on different networks, trying to figure out which ones to keep and which to just let wander off into the wiles of cyberspace. I end up spending too much time on things that probably aren't as important in the grand scheme of things. Does anyone else find that to be true? -Charles
