Take a stand for the animals
If you live in the Las Vegas area and are an animal lover, there is a meeting you should attend. I had put up a post about it on my other blog. The Clark County Animal Advisory Committee is having a public meeting. The time and address can be found at the other post, but the item up for discussion boils down to requiring Pet Stores and private breeders to sterilize any cat or dog before being able to sell the animal. All pets will also need to be chipped prior to sale. This would go a long way to reducing the population of unwanted animals in our city. You can get directions here.
Please help get the word out and show much Las Vegans value and love their animals. -Charles
Last chance for Traverse Point
New condo sales at Traverse Point are winding down. According to SunVest communities, the developer of Traverse Point as well as several other Las Vegas condo projects, there are only 30 new condominiums left for sale. Currently they are offering close out deals on the remaining inventory.
Traverse Point is located just off of Stephanie Street, just minutes from the I215 beltway and McCarran International airport. Community amenities include a resort style pool, media center, fitness center, party kitchen and more. Call me at 702-493-8033 to get the latest available units and pricing. -cr
17th and Vine update
Just a quick update. I got in contact with Sherry Latham about 17th and Vine, i.e. Stephanie Village. The project has just changed its name to Stephanie Village. All of the floor plans, amenities, etc have not changed.
Since the name change, construction has stared in earnest. If you drive by the property, you'll see construction for residence one and the community clubhouse. The first residential building is due to be completed by late spring of next year. For information about Stephanie Village, please visit my website or call 702-493-8033. -cr
Home Depot is giving away free compact fluorescent light bulbs
In celebration of Earth Day (April 22), Home Depot is giving away ONE MILLION N:vision compact fluorescent light bulbs to any customer who visits any Home Depot store. There are a few restrictions. Offer is restricted to the continental US and it is first come, first serve. Once supplies run out, that's it. Its part of a promotion of Eco-line products that Home Depot is rolling out. As a nation, we are probably better off concentrating on reducing the amount of emission coming from our residences than our cars. The reason why I say this, is the fact posting on the Home Depot site. They estimate that by giving out these bulbs, people will save a combined 12 million dollars in annual energy costs and will reduce the amount of carbon emissions by 196 million pounds of carbon dioxide. That's the equivalent of removing 70,000 cars from the highway. We use billions of light bulbs and we aren't going to give up our cars any time soon. If everyone converted to the new energy efficient spiral fluorescent, just think how much money would be saved and how much less pollution would be generated. Even if you don't care for the environment, who doesn't like saving money?

See you all at the Home Depot on Sunday! -Charles
17th and Vine is no more
17th and Vine, a mid rise condominium project in Henderson is no more. The project has been dragging its feet for the last year, claiming it was going forward despite very little construction activity. The project was adjacent to RJ Wiley on Stephanie.
Originally the project was advertised all over the valley and was not cooperating with local realtors. As the condo market started to cool, the project owners decided to re-think their marketing strategy and solicited the Las Vegas realtor community to help with the project. Sales picked up and some construction was done. The site was cleared and prepped for a foundation....then nothing.
Now, the project has been re-named Stephanie Village. There is no word from the new project as to design or options, although from the render on their site it seems that the project will be changing very little. Time will tell. -Charles

Summerlin, Nevada
Looking for a home in the city with the feel of a small town? The master planned community of Summerlin is the answer. At build out, Summerlin will be composed of 30 "villages", each with its own architectural flair and lifestyle. Developed by the Howard Hughes corporation, Summerlin has been one of the best selling master planned communities in Southern Nevada for the last decade. Both new and pre-owned homes are available, as are condominiums and townhomes.
For golf afficiandos, Summerlin real estate is a dream come true. Summerlin hosts Nevada only annual golf tournament, the Invenys Classic and has the only two Tournament Players Club courses in the valley. In addition, Summerlin has six other golf courses to choose from. Several communities offer homes and villas with views of the various courses.
Summerlin also offers age restricted communities for those that are 55 and better. Sun City Summerlin by Del Webb and Siena offer a host of amenities geared towards today's active baby boomers. Both communities have their own community pools, fitness centers and resident activities.
Summerlin is also home to Nevada's only performing arts center and the Nevada Ballet Theater. The community currently has 8 private schools and 9 public, giving parents plenty of educational choices for their children. Residents can enjoy any one of the 19 puclic parks or one of the 80 neighborhood "pocket"parks, in adition to numerous public swimming pools, ball fields and tennis courts. Tree lined streets, beautiful desert landscaping and more have made Summerlin a great place to live. Guest blogger
Recognition can be a wonderful thing, not to mention opening doors of opportunities. I had been talking to Mary McKnight of Rsspieces.com and eventually the conversation turned to the subject of guest bloggers. (if you haven't checked out her site, I highly recommend it).
I was fortunate enough to be offered a guest spot and just put up my first post there titled the websites of future. I'd like to thank Mary for the opportunity to expand my blogging skills (or lack thereof!) into another arena. The post ran really long so I've broken it up into a few posts. I'll be posting the other segments later this month. Please take a look and let me know what you think. -Charles
