If you live in the Las Vegas area and are an animal lover, there is a meeting you should attend. I had put up a post about it on my other blog. The Clark County Animal Advisory Committee is having a public meeting. The time and address can be found at the other post, but the item up for discussion boils down to requiring Pet Stores and private breeders to sterilize any cat or dog before being able to sell the animal. All pets will also need to be chipped prior to sale. This would go a long way to reducing the population of unwanted animals in our city. You can get directions here.

Whoa!! Get out of my home, get out of my client's homes! There are too many regs now and the puppymillers will just go underground. I say "no" to mandatory spay and neuter. No animal should be put under the knife just because folks are stupid. One can very easily control un-neutered critters in on'es possession. I breed (rarely and very well) Afghan Hounds and I'm danged if "authorities" will make cheap legislation that is unenforceable at my critter's expense. Animal rights, NO--human responsibility, YES! I do know the results of unwanted and poor breeding practices--things like the wallet-sucking "designer dogs"--designed to take $ from the unwitting buyers and the rescued dogs whose first (or 2nd or 3rd---) owners lied to the rescuers--"no, he never bit anyone" whose new owners call me in tears because they just wanted a "nice dog for the kids" and can't handle the poor damaged critter they have. But, mandatory from a breeder is NOT the answer. Education is.
